Trial access

Dear university instructors and students!

Please be aware of trial to HeinOnline’s American Nominative Reports database, and this is now available with other HeinOnline databases. Trial access is set from September 3, 2026 and will expire on October 15, 2026.

The Nominative Reports bring together nearly three million pages of rare and hard-to-find English, Irish, and American court reports. The three collections are available individually or together.

https://heinonline.com/content/nominative-reports-english-irish-american/

Nominative reports are the reports that documented the decisions of the court until the establishment of a formalized method of court reporting. These reports, which emerged in 16th-century England, were initially published by studying lawyers who would take notes on arguments at the Inns of Court in London.

The English Nominative Reports collection is especially extensive, with more than 2 million pages across 609 titles and 2,988 volumes. The collection spans more than 250 reporters and more than 300 years, from 1585 to 1899. It also includes related historical materials such as Year Books, books, digests, legal newspapers, and scholarly articles.

These materials can be a useful resource for researchers interested in legal history, the development of case law, and the historical development of legal doctrine.
